What Happened To Workplace Behavior?
Letter to the Editor:
What a disgrace it is for our Congressmen and Congresswomen to behave badly while performing the job for which they were elected.
I am disgusted with watching the people we elected going to work, then behaving worse than young children, who don't know any better. How dare our representatives curse at the podium, yell at each other, call names, ignore common courtesy to one another, and bully one another.
We have rules against that kind of behavior in our schools, but are we expected to accept it from grown men and women in public offices?
I would say, "Fire these people who cannot perform their jobs in a satisfactory way." I was a teacher for many years, and we never yelled at, called names, bullied or cursed at our co-workers. Sure, we all had differences in opinions, but for the benefit of our children, we worked our differences out, by compromising. We didn't say No, No, No to our Principal when she wanted us to work towards a common goal. We didn't ignore our children, and what was good for them. We looked at their needs and made a plan on achieving our goals. We worked together. We didn't make waves, because one group of children may not have as much as another group of children. We worked to make sure all the children had what they needed. Also, we took some of our paycheck to buy needed items in our classrooms, for all our children. We gave back to those who didn't have, without regard to social status.
If our Congressmen and Congresswomen, would get over themselves and see the damage they are doing to our reputation amongst ourselves and the world beyond us, then maybe we would have a chance to regain that respect.
Personally, I am ashamed to see the behavior of our leaders, while performing their jobs. I am ashamed to see them bickering, name calling, yelling, bullying, and cursing for all to see, especially our young children, who are being taught this is not acceptable behavior.
I would never vote for one person, who did not display respect for themselves and the people with which they work. I would never vote for one person, who believed they had the power to disregard common courtesy toward others. I would never vote for a bully. I would never vote for a person who put his/her own agenda above the welfare of the group. I would never vote for a person who won't tell the truth. I would never vote for a person to lead us, who is incapable doing the job.
Just think about the people in our Congress, and their unacceptable behavior. Do you want to continue paying their salaries, while they behave worse than a small child, who doesn't know any better? Do you want them to continue representlng you in a most embarrassing way? Do you want them to never agree on any policy, while debating the policy to death? Do you want them to continue taking bribes from lobbyists, while you lose everything? Food for thought.
