The Union of Marriage - The First Corporation
To the Editor
Why are there protesters who detest Judeo-Christian values while demanding that America's courts give them the right to one, or more, of those values by acknowledging same-sex marriage? Most religions and nations recognize the value of marriage - one man, one woman, and the perpetuation of the human race through children.
If I had the power to implement one law, I would legislate that the marriage institution be defined as one man joined to one woman. The union of a man and woman as husband and wife is as old as the book of Genesis. In Baker v. Nelson, 312-313, it is observed that the institution of man and woman uniquely involves the procreation and rearing of children within a family. Marriage was God?s first corporate institution.
Plaintiffs in Singer v. Hara asserted their due process clause and their equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment were violated when they attempted a same-sex marriage and denied. The court found that the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment is not a charter for restructuring it by judicial legislature, nor was the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment violated by a state's classification of persons authorized to marry. Therefore, a state can classify persons who may marry recognizing the century old Supreme Court Murphy v. Ramsey, 114 U.S. 15, 45 (1885), decision that a marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman.
Polygamy, bigamy, and consanguinity are not permitted because "such marriages are against nature of persons," Singer v. Hara, 11 Wn. App. 247; 522 P.2d 1187 (1974). Merriam-Webster defines fraud as, "intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right; an act of deceiving or misrepresenting;" therefore, same-sex marriage is fraud of our known marriage.
Society has been perpetuated by the fruits of the union of a man and woman - children. Same-sex marriages cannot perpetuate a society, for they must recruit in order to continue. We must save marriage as we know it, to manifest itself more deeply than the asserted contemporary concept of marriage and societal interests. Anything short of marriage being known as the union of one man to one woman is fraud.
The truth is that the value of marriage is to be valued as one man married to one women. Anything else is imitation. For those who desire an alternative lifestyle, they must seek another avenue to express their commitment to one another. Allowing marriage to be defined as the union of one man to one woman is the role model, and it should be recognized as one of the remaining core values of our American society.
