Antichrist is "an opponent of Christ." The Apostle John warns us not to bid them Godspeed or welcome them into our house. As a system it is that philosophy which denies Jesus Christ in all his kingdom, power and glory.

Is antichrist here? Again John tells that there are many antichrists. Christ, the term for the "Anointed" one Anointed of God to be the standard of righteousness and holiness, that one which is chosen to be saviour, leader and commander of the people. Sometimes it is used secularly as is the word "temporal saviour." The 18th Century circuit Methodist preacher, Francis Asbury, called George Washington the "temporal saviour of his country," which he certainly was, though he had a natural birth, died and went to heaven where he awaits the resurrection of the dead.

Throughout history, many have been intrigued with who would be the man of sin to challenge all authority of the almighty God and his only begotten son, Jesus. There have been contemporary applications to men such as Mao Tse Tung, who ground up millions of his own countrymen for fertilizer. All Communists are antichrist, holding that mankind is only a useful tool for the state, have no right to private property, no Ten Commandments, no Bible authority nor is any religion holy and acceptable to God. Communists do not believe that God created the world, which any fool could conclude. They fit every description of one against Christ.

Though today's antichrists wish it were not so, this is a Christian nation. What other nation has had such prosperity and hatred of tyranny, even to offering up their lives as veterans that men might be free, under God, who take sacred oaths on the only religious book which demands the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The supreme court in 1892, after reviewing thousands of historical documents reached the conclusion that indeed, "this is a Christian nation." What other nation is so benevolent, spending untold monies to help out nations in distress?

Do other countries run to help where disasters sweep away whole villages or towns? Where is the strongest attribute of God, his divine benevolence displayed but in the voluntary offerings to help other nations in trouble? Where do the soldiers of other countries willingly offer their lives and time to save from dictatorships or the heinous practices of dark cultures? What other nation has clothed the naked willingly, testified to by international periodicals showing foreign cultures in western clothes? The incalculable amount of foreign aid is proof enough that this must be the anointed nation. Our people are benevolent. Even the most crooked charity schemes benefit by this big-hearted American soul and the more we are forced to give, the more we are blessed of almighty God, though extorted in the name of charity. The greatest structural example of antichrist is the United Nations. Unholiness marks it as against Christ; forcing us to vote and sit down with nations whose legacy is thievery and murder; yet we are to treat them as equals. We should get out of the UN and get it out of the United States to boot. At once.

Antichrists have been identified in every age. Christ has prevailed while these anti-types have faced into antiquity. This quotation by highly-respected Methodist author and commentator, Daniel Steele, is here submitted for consideration in this time when Christianity is under political and social fire.

P. 128 of "Steele's Answers," "A Jew called Simeon assumed the title Bar-Cochba, Son of the Star, from the prophecy of Balaam, cut a great swath in Judea, in AD 131-135, took Jerusalem, defeated the Romans in battle, was finally conquered and beheaded by Severus. Another was Serenus of Syria, about 720 AD, followed by David Alrui (Alroy) about 1150; then came Abraham Abulafia of Spain, both in 1240, followed by Sabbathai Zebi, born N. Smyrna in 1626, styling himself king of kings of whom "miracles" were related. From Poland, Hamburg and Amsterdam treasures were poured into his court; young men and women prophesied before him, some refused to till the fields saying, "We will pay no more tribute, our Messiah is come."

He was conquered by the Turks and compelled to choose between death and Islam. Although he chose the latter, many others believed in him, and, after his death as a professed Mohammedan, they insisted that he would rise from the dead and liberate Palestine. The next pretender was Jacob Frank, who lived in royal state in Austria. After burning the Talmud in public he ended his career as a Roman Catholic. The gullibility of the Jew is accounted for when we consider the dreadful oppressions they have suffered and the daily prayer for the coming of the Messiah, which every Israelite is required to offer. The false Christ which Christians in our times are setting up is Liberalism, so called, which pays divine honors to a false concept of Jesus Christ as the Revealer of the love of God, ignoring His holiness, justice and truth and disobeying His Law. They are described and their doom is foretold in Matt. 7:22-24, "Many will say unto me in that day." etc.
