Reader replies to Mel Griffith article
Letter To The Editor:
Guess Who Told The Biggest Lies.
Well, Mr.Griffith I am sorry I didn't get back to answer your letter you had written for The People News for September. I had to have a major operation on my right leg and I am only now getting to where I can get to my PC.
I read The People News every month I find some of the articles very interesting. I don't always agree with them but that doesn't mean that I am right and they are wrong. It just means we see things different.
Mr. Griffith, I know that you are a very well educated person and also a knowledgeable person. That is one reason for my writing this letter. I too go way back listening to the Presidents on an old battery radio. I can remember President Hoover. I went in the Navy in the early part of the war. I was in the battle of Layte Gulf October, 1944, Iwo Jima 1945 and Okinawa April 1945. But as I said I believe you to be a well educated and knowledgeable man. So that is why I can't understand your letter.
Now let us look at the facts. The proof is irrefutable, uncontrovertible, and uncontestable that George. W. Bush, Richard Cheney, Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleezza Rice and Paul Wolfowitz all lied on one or many occasions in reporting Iraq's Mass and Biological weapons. Had they said that they believed Iraq had these weapons or that it was reported to them that Iraq had these weapons, their statements might have reflected poorly on their gullibility, or their sources, but would not have branded them as liars. But they chose not to make any such conditional statements. Instead, each of them flat out told everyone who would listen that they knew for a fact that Iraq had these weapons and that they constituted an overwhelming threat to the safety of the American people. Some such as Colin Powell and Donald Rumsfelt even went so far as to assert that they knew exactly where these weapons were located and the quantity there was. Now, they didn't know this yet they said so anyhow. That my gentle reader, is a classic example of a lie... saying something is a fact when you know that it isn't, or that you didn't know for sure. You can't deny this, Mr.Griffith.
So it is now given what so many of us have suspected for so long, that the leaders of this administration are liars. But having been found out, has there been a single step taken by George. W. Bush, Richard Cheney, Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleezza Rice, or Paul Wolfowitz? No, no, no! A thousand times no. Not one has even admitted his lies. Nor have any of them apologized. There is just no honor in this administration.
You say that all Democrats want to do is raise taxes. Well now think back, was it not George H.W. Bush who said read my lips no new taxes but he raised them, did he not? Do you mean to say you don't want to close tax loop holes on corporations, just let the CEO's like Ken Lay, a friend of George W. Bush steal the workers pension money and he hasn't now nor will he ever be made to pay. Shame on you.
You say the Democrats plan to expand just about every federal program there is. Why, Mr. Griffith, who has come up with more federal programs than Mr. Bush and there isn't one of them working? Look at No Child Left Behind. You above all people should know about this one. Homeland Security is not working. Just how many terrorists have the government arrested in the past year in the United States? This Homeland Security thing is a forest, it doesn't work. They put out a lot of bull about there might be a terrorist attack and the President takes off to Texas for two weeks to golf. This administration has got a bigger propaganda machine than Tokyo Rose had during World War ll.
You said they forgot to mention about health care, well we would be better off without one than to have the health plan that was just passed.
Now, we are down to [Vice Presidential Candidate] Mr. Edwards about he and con men like him with their fast talking can get ignorant jurors to give outrageous awards. Well sitting right next to him in the next chair is Mr. Bill Frist. He doesn't talk anyone into these outrageous hospital bills, he just charges them between $40,000.00 to $75,000.00 for about 2 or maybe 2 1/2 hours an operation. Now 95% of the time these persons being operated on has that real good insurance that Mr. Frist likes to see, if not then they charge it to Medicare and the American tax payers pay for it. Right? Mr. Frist can't help it because he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. You see his family owns the largest HMO group in America, Mr. Edwards wasn't that lucky. He had to work and claw his way up, fighting people like Bill Frist. So you see after all Mr. Edwards isn't any worse than Mr. Frist.
Now I've heard and you have also, a lot of talk about Mr. Edwards experience in foreign affairs. Neither did George. W. Bush when he ran for President. Did he? Neither did you have any experience about the school board until you were elected. Did you?
Now lets talk about these out of the world gas prices. Well, you say how can Mr.Bush help that. Well now whether you remember it or not, when World War ll started President Roosevelt put a ceiling price on everything, I mean everything. He was not going to allow any price gauging on the American people. Now since Bush's war in Iraq, gas prices have increased double. Why? Well now the writer of the article on page 11 gave part of the answer. You see it's not the short supply of crude oil. For we know supply and demand control the price of everything, so as the writer said, the shortage is in the refining. But he also said that if the shortage was in the crude oil end then why don't the wacko tree huggers let there be more drilling in Alaska. Well now let's see, we built this huge oil pipe line and we have these huge super oil tankers hauling oil from Alaska but not one drop comes to the United States, it all goes to the far East, because that is where the Carlyle Group markets it. Then we buy the Saudi oil from the Carlyle Group.
George. W. Bush first tried to say Saddam was behind the 9/11 attack but there was not one from Iraq in it, they were all from Saudi Arabia, yet Bush has not said one word to the Saudi about it. They even found terrorist camps in Saudi Arabia and even today Saudi pays the terrorist $25,000.00 to every suicide bomber. Do you call this war on terrorists? Now this Carlyle Group is the largest oil group in the world. They market all the oil from Saudi Arabia, South America and the oil from Alaska. They want to market all the oil from Iraq. You see Mr. George H.W. Bush is on the board of directors. That's why we went to war with Iraq in the Gulf war was because of the oil. Then Saddam tried to assassinate George H.W. Bush so now number one son is getting even with Saddam and also getting his oil too. Believe it, it's public record.
You see Mr. Griffith, the refineries in the United States are owned mostly by Republicans so again I say supply and demand control the price. So now why would they want to build more refineries and have more gas and then have to cut the price. See it now? Now Mr. George W. Bush, Mr. George H.W. Bush, Mr. Richard Cheney, Ms Condoleezza Rice are all millionaires from oil and are still in it, so why would Mr. Bush want to put a ceiling on something that is making him and his friends richer. Now Ms. Rice was not just a poor black girl waiting on tables in Atlanta and Mr. Bush put her on his staff just to say he wasn't racist. Oh no, you see she is also a multi-millionaire and in the oil business, she has a big super tanker named after her.
Now you say jobs are not created by poor people, that's not always true Mr. Griffith. Just look at Kentucky Fried Chicken. Mr. Saunders was past 65 when he started Kentucky Fried Chicken in a very small cafe, and he was just a poor working man, now look at how many people are employed with Kentucky Fried Chicken. No, Mr. Griffith, it's the poor hard working honest dedicated workers who make manufacturing plants grow and become stable, it's not the CEO's.
Now Mr.Griffith, I am neither a Democrat or a Republican. I have never voted a straight party ticket. I believe it's the truth that counts. It is true President Bill Clinton lied. But his lies were about his sex life and nobody got killed, but with George W. Bush lies there are over 1000 Americans dead. I mean graveyard dead and no telling how many thousands that are disabled for the rest of their lives, and no telling how many are injured just over Bush's lies. Do you really think it is worth it? These American Armed Forces aren't fighting and dying for our freedom because no one has threatened our freedom. First Bush said he wanted to go to war with Iraq because of the mass destruction and biological weapons and a nuclear program that could have a bomb in maybe two years. Well, now that we haven't found any mass destruction or biological weapons or any sign of a nuclear program, he changed it to freeing the people of Iraq and just put Bin Laden on the back burner for a while, but now that is not going so good so he is saying it's terrorists that we are after. Which is it Mr. Bush?
I read your article on why wars were being fought and those that could have been avoided but you know, I wondered why you never mentioned the three things that have happened to the Presidents since I can remember, and they all happened with Republicans that really hurt the credibility of the United States with foreign countries. No.1, Richard Nixon telling so many lies he had to resign. No. 2, Iran-Contra with Ronald Reagan, there were so many lies told and then Oliver North testified before Congress that he and a Saudi arms dealer were selling American military equipment to Iran. They were our enemy. Mr. North and the arms dealer they put the money in a Swiss bank account. George H.W. Bush VP said "I sat in the meeting but I didn't pay any attention to what was said." Can you believe that? Ronald Reagan President said I knew nothing about it. The President, not knowing what was going on.
No. 3, George W. Bush lies about Iraq not only to the Congress and the American people but to the nations of the world. These three things hurt the American image with the great nations of the world. Deny this if you will.
You said that you watched a lot of the conventions and you was talking about what the Democrats promised. Well now Mr.Griffith, did you hear Mr. Bush in his acceptance speech at the convention, bragged about his progress in health care for all Americans, and controlling health care cost. Then the next morning his administration announces 17% increase in Medicare Part "B." This increase amounts to $11.60 for every senior citizen in America. This cost is not voluntary and will be paid by all seniors. What was it you said that the Democrats were the ones who wanted to raise taxes? These are old poor people he raised 17%.
