Most of you will have realized by now that The People News is undergoing a massive change in how it is presented to you, the reader. No longer will a paper copy be produced. You will no longer have the option to read it sitting in your armchair or at the breakfast table, in future you will need a computer and a connection to the internet.
We at The People News will be making changes to our existing website that we hope will make the transformation exciting and innovative in that it will provide reader options that the paper copy could never supply. Honoring the First Amendment to the U.S, Constitution, The People News Online will encourage participation from ordinary people with something interesting to say. Unique ideas and unorthodox viewpoints will receive as much respect as polished political commentary. All viewpoints are welcome because open discussion is important to us. Our readership is diverse but the common factor is their ability to soak up good ideas and reject bad ones. If your ideas adhere to common sense, they will likely be embraced by the reader. If they are designed for political correctness, their reception will prove their worthiness. Regardless, I encourage you to take part in the formation of what could be called the unique American viewpoint.
It is hoped, that in the coming months, The People News Online will be transformed by reader input into a viable alternative to traditional information gathering. Mainstream television and newspaper reporting supplies the basis for thought, but it tends to indoctrinate establishment views while trying to appear unbiased. This may or may not be intentional, but it is a fact. The People News has let ideas emanate from its contributing writers without editorial input, in the process gaining respect from its readers. One lady put it in perspective when she called to say that until she read our paper she didn't know there were other people with the same views.
For the People News Online to be successful it will need the readers that are used to the paper copy to make the effort to change reading habits. It will need them to actively seek the web address and add it to there online favorites. In some cases it will require the massive step of joining the online revolution and to become plugged in.
Don't think reading The People News Online will be a hassle or complicated. The website has been updated each month the same as the newspaper. The newspaper has been published for thirteen years, the website for seven. Although the website has many levels of access, back issue archive, surveys and results etc., it has been designed to be simple to use, even for those unfamiliar with the web. And if you think it could be improved, call us at 559-2150, (with a 423 area code for those out of town) and tell us.
It is my hope that you will remain with us for this new adventure.
