Car and Bike Show

by Alexandra Edwards

Daryl Banther and his friends at the Cleveland Flea Market on South Lee Highway, organized a free Car and Bike show on March 15th.
The show, which attracted a wide variety of classic cars and custom made motorcycles drew a large crowd on a day that was mostly sunny and warm. Oldies 104 FM did a live remote broadcast on site, supplying music and entertainment to the crowd. There were also door prizes and give aways to be had and food could be purchased from a well stocked kitchen in the flea market. Miss Teen Tennessee USA, Alicia Selby, 17, of Sparta, Tennessee,  was special guest with her parents. She posed for pictures and presented trophies to the owners of winning cars.
Money was raised through a drawing for items, which included a Budweiser cycle jacket, donated by booths at the flea market, with half the proceeds going to Alicia's

favorite charity  the Fight Against Multiple Sclerosis. She said the charity was especially important to her because her mother had recently been diagnosed with the disease.
1st Place in Cars went to Charlotte Phillips and her 1960 Corvette.
2nd Place in Cars .... Bobby Killian, 1966 Chevelle.
3rd Place in Cars .... Kenny Scroggins, 1967 Camero.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in Bikes went to Gary Stroud who did the custom paint and custom motorcycle builder, Rick Shaffe of S & S Cycles in Ooltewah.
Banther said, "We had 74 cars and 19 motorcycles. Thanks to everyone who came out to the show. It was a fun day for all." Alicia, who loves antique cars said she had a great time.

This custom motorcycle won 1st Place trophy during the Car & Bike Show held at the Cleveland Flea Market on March 15.  Miss Teen Tennessee USA, Alicia Selby presented the trophy to Rick Shaffer who built the bike and Gary Stroud who did the custom paint. Shaffer and Stroud owners of S & S Cycles in Ooltewah also took 2nd and 3rd place for two other custom machines they had built.
