Letter to the Editor:

Maybe the Sheriff needs to do a little research before he makes the assumption that all citizens of Bradley County are republican fox channel Rush Limbaugh worshippers.

I guess John Adams and the 5th congress who ratified and signed the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797 must have been living in California, no they were in Boston, here is a excerpt and a copy of article 11 of the Treaty. The first line should be enough. "As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-"

Well I'm tired of the whole debate that the republican party has some sort of direct communication with the almighty and that their party somehow transcends to the level of deity and the rest of us are just sinners and anti-American if we don't act and think like they do.

The Sheriff has clearly no intention other than to be a politician and to use his office which isn't a bully pulpit but has been made that way.

If the Sheriff wants to be a congressman this early, almost 18 months until election, he should resign and become a private citizen and not use his office as a stepping stone.

If he is the best candidate, then he won't need the help of taxpayers.
