On March 29, 1975, my American Mother went to be with the Lord. Her life was one when freedom was a matter of course.
Born in Sherwood, Tennessee, she gave her life to the Lord when she was 17 at a Nazarene altar. It was her mind to go to Edmondson Business College in Chattanooga- paid her own way, there were no 'grants' or other handouts, but then she would have been ashamed to use other people's money. She was an American and any breed of Communist philosophies didn't fit in that normal time.
She began her own business in the Temple Court Building as a stenographer to the lawyers and judges. Imagine that! She simply opened up an office and was successful, while at the same time in this office, she and her brother gave out gospel tracts to the lawyers and judges. It was only normal.
On to the Chattanooga College of Law to learn real law, based upon the Ten Commandments and the Bible precepts. Not to outdo men, or break into their field, but it was just something she wanted to do. You could do that back then. Her husband fell into sin, and of course, she never felt sorry for herself or considered herself a "victim," but trusted the Lord to take care of her and help her rear her two children.
Her daytime job at Signal Mountain Cement Company meshed with her nighttime studies at the Law College, but of course, it was normal to walk to the bus line with her two children to go to church on Thursday evening, and then, of course, Sunday morning and Sunday night, walking in liberty after dark, singing her hymns as they made their way down Missionary Ridge. And of course, it was normal for her underage children to catch a city bus alone and meet her at 9th and Georgia; no one was afraid to leave two small children on the street corner in Chattanooga. Of course.
Her faith in the God of our Fathers led her to start a real estate company. Fancy that! Starting a business without a string of regulations, permits, fines, fees, just hanging out the shingle - Peggy Cook Realty Company - you know the one whose key fob had a little wavy American flag. She was an American and it was her Right.
It came into her righteous and free American mind to take the Bar; since work had hindered her from taking the test earlier, having to work and make a living for her family. This was years after she had finished law school, and the New Lawyer had made the scene. She loaded up her law books to cram for this exam, but The Daughter told her that there was no need for such studies, that if she would just memorize supreme Court decisions for the last ten years, she would pass the test, that the Law was now corrupt. This advice was ignored, but the bitter test came when she found The Daughter was right. Law school was now a joke, having left the Rock of Ages, in favor of the New Way, cheating your way through law school.
The reality of this perverted Law brought sickness and an early death, so in 1975, she resigned herself into the hands of the Great Lawgiver, having seen on her sick bed, a City whose Builder and Ruler is God.
But The Daughter took up her cause and by God's Providence that is acknowledged in the Declaration of Independence brought down the IRS regarding the Inheritance Tax and since 1984, everyone has benefited from The Daughter's vehemence against thievery of inheritances. A marvelous American Lady, this Lady, leaving her legacy to laugh in the face of the Dragon, the Beast and the False Prophet. Thank God for the Scriptures which "led her all the way." Thanks, dear Mother, for your example. It has been successful!
